YOUR APPOINTMENT

In most cases, patients are referred to Michigan Veterinary Specialists by their family primary care veterinarian. Our hospitals are staffed 24/7 so you can call to schedule an appointment anytime. When you call, please ask for an estimate of the initial examination fees. Since the costs of any additional testing and treatments are often not known at the time, it may not be possible to estimate all of the costs. Once we examine your pet, your MVS doctor or technician will provide you with an assessment of your pet's treatment options, plans and costs.

If you wish, you can download and fill out our Client Information form and bring it with you on the day of your appointment.

On the day of your appointment

  1. Be sure to bring any pertinent information including the referral form filled out by your veterinarian, x-rays, blood test results, diet or medicines your pet may have. Please, remember that the information your veterinarian provides to us prior to your appointment can often help us help you and your pet.
  2. Please arrive 20 minutes early to complete documents for your patient's medical record.
  3. You may give your pet water, but please do not feed your pet for 12 hours prior to your appointment (except for very young animals, animals with diabetes or when directed otherwise). Continue your pet's normal medication schedule and bring all medication(s) with you.
  4. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us a 24-hour notice. We'll be happy to reschedule.

When You Get Here

After you check in with our receptionists, the doctor and technician will meet with you to get a complete medical history and evaluate your pet's condition. The doctor may also perform a more thorough examination of the pet away from the examination room in one of our diagnostic rooms. At this point, our team should be able to provide you with an assessment of your pet's treatment options, plans and costs. A deposit may be required before performing any additional tests or treatments.
